I saw an advertised deal for $2499 for a Panamera lease in the LA Times yesterday. Insanity.

Yeah, I’m not going to pay thousands extra just because Bill Ford is less of an asshole than Elon Musk. I mean, I’m not in the market for an electric car right now anyway, but price is always going to be a factor.
No doubt, Tesla’s pricing is causing issues for the rest of the EV market - and the Tesla used market.
Using the same search criteria, there’s 81k F150s, 20k Explorers, 11k Escapes, 11k Edges, 7k Broncos, 15k Bronco Sports, 6k Expeditions.
You can buy a base Mach-E with like 220 miles of range for $5K under MSRP, but the best deal I see online for a ~300 mile version is still $56K. This is competing with a $50K Model Y. The Ford was overpriced and still not a great deal...
This feels a bit like the car market’s version of the bitcoin boom/bust hangover for graphics cards.
Weren’t dealers marking these up months ago when they first became available? I’m sure those people that refused to pay markup bought a Tesla or Hyundai/Kia EVs. You reap what you sow, dealers. People do remember being wronged, and are unlikely to do business with shady dealers again. Actions have consequences. Deal…
I’m sure you know this, but...
This. Can’t wait until manufacturers overreact and we are swamped in well-built economy cars and compact pickups with no unwanted features in six years’ time.
Weird. Normal people don’t want to buy a $50k car with 7% interest rates, tech that’s outdated faster than a modern smartphone, a business model that’s constantly pushing microservices, and tracks all your movements with no way to opt out or find out where that information is going?
Yeah, 856 in 18 months...and 90k reservations. But sure, no one wants EVs. Same for the Silverado EV, 200k reservations and they haven’t built anything but a few hundred WT (work truck) versions.
Mechanical reliability is suspect as well. I have an acquaintance who has gone through at least 2x engines in 3 years to no fault of their own.
For me, it’s gotta be the Mazda3. Not only does it look really great on the outside, the interior looks like it punches above it’s price with nice materials, tech, and buttons (glorious buttons!). Plus, you can get one pretty well equipped for under $25k, and, from what I understand, the drive is a good blend of…
Maybe not the most popular opinion, but I really love the Mustang Mach-E - every time I see one I find myself oogling it. Great looking vehicle that I could totally see myself driving.
