Just got back from our first road trip, from Ohio to Myrtle Beach and back, in our 2022 Pacifica AWD. My wife drug me kicking and screaming into minivan ownership, and after that road trip, a camping trip with a rooftop tent on top, and a few trips to Pittsburgh with 2 other couples in the back, this thing is the

As the largest new car market in the country, California’s decision will directly affect all 49 other states. The Virginia gov can make any rules they like for VA but they are deluded if they think auto manufacturers are going to cater their products for an individual state, and not the biggest, wealthiest market in

All of these states ch0se to follow California. No sneaky Californians changed their laws when they weren’t looking. The legislatures of every state are completely free to change things to their liking.

PHEV according to CARB is a zero emissions vehicle, and will still be allowed in 2035, we’ll likely see a ton of new PHEV’s hit the market in the next 5 years.

I grew up around people who could buy their own countries. The actual rich don’t really buy this sort of thing. The nouveau riche who do won’t give a shit. And realistically, most people buy something THIS big because they actually need the capability of space and towing. This is a tad big to just be a Soccer Mom

Its ok to keep saying true things.

How many customers looking to drop over $80,000 on a luxury truck does Rivian think they will lose because of a $7,500 tax credit? They probably could have started their vehicles at $90,000 without any of their buyers batting an eye. If Rivian offered a more basic trim that started closer to $60,000 they’d be selling

I think driving is a pretty big part of being into cars.

Fuck you, leave.

I’ll just say it. I hope Alito, Thomas, and for good measure, Kavanaugh just die soon and human beings are appointed to the seats they left vacant.

fuck you, leave

You’d think so, but I continue to see a good number of new cars on the street. People must not care about the price gouging. They want their new car and they want it now, so they just pay whatever.

I’m sure this won’t be a popular idea on Jalopnik, but a better long term solution is to push for your town to build better public transit and protected bike paths. I love driving. I pretty much won’t buy a vehicle without a stickshift because I love climbing through the gears and hitting that sweet rev-matched

“because it’s what triggers my bonus”

In a management town hall at my company recently, someone asked the CEO why one of our company metrics was to match or exceed S&P500 performance.  “Why isn’t making a ton of profit enough?”  CEO spent the next 5 minutes not answering the question.

2nd Gear: Fucking love it when industry wide stocks take a hit for providing an adequate supply of their products to their customers.

Or their own articles.

We went to a Kia dealership near us recently to test drive a 2022 Telluride. When we heard they had a $9,000 mark-up over invoice on it we walked away without even looking at the car. We don’t NEED a new car that bad. Perhaps that is a factor in the fact people aren’t buying as much?

More than you can afford, pal.  EV.

The Bolt is now $26,600 with 258 miles of range. That’s likely the best you’re ever going to get with inflation.
