I have to recommend Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation by Blake J. Harris. It’s available on Amazon for a little over $10 and chronicles how Sega took on Nintendo and revolutionized the gaming industry.

I’m on Sargatanas myself and never had an issue with clearing content or a lack of FCs trying to recruit for story progression. When you run a dungeon with a PUG it’s going to pull players from different servers regardless.

The huge size of the controller is why I bought a PS2 instead back in the day. I have small hands for a girl and, for the life of me, I couldn’t manage it - no matter how bad I wanted to play DOA. I can’t imagine being a kid and having to use the controller.

I’d argue the jump from 2D to 3D gaming in the mid 90s also deserves a spot on the “pivotal moments of gaming changes.” Playing Mario 64 for the first time... changed everything about what we expected from games.
