The people who don't like the products of that market (F2P) tend to stick with used games and buying games at retail... Which hurts the dev studio. I'd say at this point, devs are giving zero fucks for people that stick with 20th-century gaming values.
The media coverage tends to be CNN and Wall Street Journal, and boy, do those outlets carry hot loads of the gaming audience :P
