It's sad to me that your mom wasn't able to see this before you explained it too her. I've heard terrible stories from the college students that I work with regarding things they went through in high school, and often their parents had no idea. It is scary.

Ugh…I truly hope not. Honestly, I feel like every story of suicide is a failure for my profession. :(

Yes and no. If someone knows a friend who has completed suicide and sees the effect this has had on this person's family, it may be a deterrent. On the other hand, when someone is at the point when they are considering suicide as a valid option, they either 1) truly believe that their family & friends will be better

I won't go into detail either, but there is real research behind the effects of suicide contagion. For this reason, there are recommendations and guidelines on how completed suicides should be reported in the media in order to minimize this effect. (If it helps you, I'm a clinical psychologist.)

I'm a clinical psychologist, and I work with college students. I haven't seen the show, but I don't expect that it will be long before one of my clients mentions it in session. Make a show about suicide if you want, but don't claim that you are doing it to "help" those who have had thoughts of suicide.

As a psychologist, I don't think there's such a thing as a "positive trauma." Sure, we can learn and grow from ANY negative experience that happens to us. But ask someone who has been raped, someone who has been homeless, someone who has watched the sudden unexpected death of a loved one…ask any of these people if

I think the point was that she was using a Christian device to tell what is considered to be a JEWISH story.

I haven't seen that movie in awhile…I didn't dislike the movie, so maybe I didn't mind the split screen so much. ;)

This might seem like an odd reference, but you saying "spawn" made me recall another awful movie a saw in the theater, Species. That was pretty horrible.

I agree and disagree. I don't think either Hulk movie was as terrible as they were made out to be, although both could have been better. But one thing I hate in just about any movie is split screen. For a particularly bad example, see The Andromeda Strain (at least I didn't see that one in the theater, haha).

Missed that, but I'm sure it was funny; truly one of the worst things about The Happening was Mark Wahlberg.

I think special effects get too much credit these days, and 3D totally bores me. If everyone can do CGI effects, how interesting is it?

Sorry Matthew…maybe I just saw it at a bad time? I also really don't like that actor, Craig Wasson.

Body Double
Dead Ringers
Starship Troopers (although the bugs did a good job)
The Happening (as much as it pains me to put down M. Night Shyamalan)

Wow, I was going to comment, but there are over three THOUSAND already? I can't compete with that.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who found Avatar totally unimpressive!

So who knows what the "boppin them on the head" from the title refers to?

Oh, I was such a devotee of this show! Loved original host Alex the best, and had my favorites amongst the designers (Vern always did a great job; what was Genevieve thinking?). Other than What Not to Wear, it's the only reality TV show I've ever followed.

Geez, I thought Inception too. Let's hope it's truly TDT as we know it!

I had originally heard last month, so let's hope it's really July!
