Tom, you have vastly more experience with buying cars than I do. I’ve bought less than twenty cars in my life, and only one at a Nissan dealer. This event was two weeks ago, and it was remarkable enough for me to want to remark on it. I’ve been browsing ads for a later model Grand Cherokee for a few weeks. Don’t

That isn’t false advertising. They spell out the requirements in the ad.

I suffer from cognitive dissonance, because I viscerally agree with you by principle.

Actually there are tons of regulations for that. The problem is that trucks and SUVs are in a different category and do not have to meet said regulations.

I went the other way, and put a 5.0 in my Rascal.

First legally registered electric motorcycle in Denmark was this 1930s Nimbus. Looked like shite (builder an electrical technician, and yes, that’s his Volvo), but an 5 kW engine from a floor cleaning machine and used batteries from a junkyard made it a cheap project.

they would not sell it to me without Lo-jack, tinted windows, and a handful of other dealer-installed nonsense.

I guess they have zero Fs left to give

It’s pretty simple; you can’t advertise something for sale at a price that you don’t intend to actually sell at that price or under terms not mentioned in the ad. A grocery store can’t advertise $1/gallon milk, but refuse to sell it to you at that price unless you also buy $10 worth of cottage cheese after you walk

Let me just say, if you don’t have them on your car, it’s a ticking time bomb. They’re usually around $15,000, but we only charge $799.

Damnit.  All it needed was about 80 more O’s

“Not for rectal use.”

Disappointed by the under-hood photo: I was hoping there’d be a heated cupholder under the hood. Ya know, where the missing cylinder was.

If you had told me ten years ago that Toyota would build a three banger that puts out 300 HP and 372 lb/ft of torque, I’d have thought you were mad.

But won’t someone think of the precious, vulnerable oil companies? They bought Congress, so frankly I expect lawmakers to do nothing, or at least nothing that doesn’t also benefit big Auto or Oil.

Saying Canada is more progressive on well, anything, isn’t exactly going to cause anyone to be surprised.

But see, Joe Manchin needs more money

*except Florida.

Hi... Vancouver based claims person here.

Piëch had high and sometimes wild engineering standards, such as wanting the VW Phaeton to “sustain 186 mph all day, in 122-degree weather, with an interior temperature of 72 degrees.”
