It’s not the AV Club’s job to “champion” any movie, let alone one the writer doesn’t think is very good. That’s true regardless of who is in the cast.

Apparently you’re not aware that you were citing production budget only, which ignores marketing, which is usually an additional 50-100% of a film’s cost

It may be because of that stupid English title they gave Himmel über Berlin that they missed the point so hard and remade a philosophical essay about the nature of life and human existence into a schmaltzy love drama...

Oh my gosh, how could you leave out “The Vanishing,” which had the original director but completely ruined the ending and therefore the film. Read this slideshow just to see it mentioned, but no joy.
