And it’s even in the URL!! Jesus christ.

It’s a good thing you didn’t grow up during the SNES/N64 days, where we got to pay 60 or more 1990s dollars for the privilege of what were quite often less than 10 hour games :P

Speaking as someone that loves Gialli (and even likes some of the neo-giallo style exercises like Amer), loves Toby Jones, and loves Duke of Burgundy...

Ugh, I hate that 16x9 cropping crap. Seinfeld and Buffy are two shows I’ve seen horrendously zoomed/cropped on TV. As soon as we got rid of pan and scan with everything going over to 16x9, we got that in its place!

All of my favorites are on here, with one exception -

WOTLK’s raids were an absolute joke compared to BC and Cataclysm. Did you ever do Gruul or Hydross towards the beginning of the expac? Even after the big first wave of nerfs that made those intro bosses less than a nightmare, Kael and Vashj (who were also required to even get into Hyjal/BT) were far, FAR more

They’ll probably do something really stupid like say “maybe your parents were no one, but your GRANDPA was COUNT DOOKU!!!” Or Palpatine. Or Jar Jar.

The proper ending IMOis the end of season 3 with Pam’s beaming into the camera. The quality of writing dive between that episode and the season 4 premiere is greater than any other that ever occurred on the show, even the notably terrible season 8. Season 4 managed to limp back to higher quality with some of the

This episode was infuriatingly bad, and I’ve mostly enjoyed this season. One bright spot - in that moronic “reenactment” footage, I was reminded of the classic game Porrasturvat (stair dismount). It almost looked as if they’d generated the footage using it.

It’s not even close to shot-for-shot. Based on the descriptions of the musical numbers and that comparison video with Hakuna Matata, they made sure to change any shot with any striking imagery or otherwise artistic content into one that looks like the flattest possible nature photography. Shot-for-shot would have been

Seriously. I rewatched that a month or so ago and was struck by how Hopkins is probably even worse than Keanu. Like, it’s misdirected Forrest Whitaker levels of unhinged overacting. Ex, when he abruptly starts dancing with Mina when they meet, or his whole behavior in that scene towards the end when Mina goes into

TBF you really could just choose between a couple formations and then mash one button until you need to heal/boss gets staggered upon which you switch formations (and you could completely ignore casting debuffs/buffs) for the vast majority of the game. The underlying system was really cool, though, and did get very

Hell yeah. Hugh Grant in Paddington 2 was possibly the funniest role I saw all year. It’s probably my favorite role of his, and I’ve always liked him. He started blossoming when he turned to cads, but he’s REALLY become brilliant when he turned to failed actors (Paddington 2/Florence Foster Jenkins).

I watched Godzilla movies nonstop as a kid, have probably seen most of the 60s ones 10+ times, the 90s ones close to it, and even I kinda thought this one was infuriatingly bad for long stretches. Worst human characters this side of Final Wars!

I’ll still buy the shit out of it on 4K since there’s about 20-30 minutes

I was heartened to see the review from the reasonably intelligent Moviebob (on the Escapist youtube channel) giving it a 10/10, which is quite rare for him for anything other than small movies. As a fellow lifelong Godzilla nerd that just wants to see monsters smashing into each other, it sounds like it will be

Q is far, far better than it has any right to be. The characters and dialogue are incredibly engaging. If you have Shudder right now, there’s a Joe Bob Briggs hosted version up. It’s one of his favorite movies, so all his host segments are a blast.

Yep, I was going to post about the high quality of the 90s Gamera movies as well. I think Gamera 3's got the best visuals of any of the Japanese Kaiju movies. Especially that big disastrous civilian damage fight scene with Gyaos, and some of the striking shots of Iris like when he’s revealed above the clouds.

Rex Dart?

I really hope it doesn’t, too. I already had to suffer through the last act of Bad Times at the El Royale, I don’t need another acting showcase that abruptly descends into a glib Manson movie so soon.

I don’t really understand the “bullet sponges aren’t more challenging” statement - it seems like if something is difficult, having to continue pulling off whatever maneuvers are necessary to avoid dying for longer would, in fact, make you more likely to die, aka more difficult.
