[Groans at another lame pun.]
These are all fair points to make. I assumed on the skimming part, I’ve run across that often on Kinja, paragraphs really seem to throw a lot of members off. My apologies.
Generally speaking, the opening sentence of a paragraph signals the paragraph’s content to the reader.
No, you’re reading that wrong. I wrote that run-on paragraph for a reason, you can’t cherry-pick one item out of that morass. Think ‘culminating circumstances’. And the straw that broke the camel’s back was actually the Chargers being stolen out of San Diego.
I’m not sure that’s what he needs, but that’s probably how this ends.
I’m trying to make an analogy to the time a classmate in high school stole the biology teacher’s calculator and got caught and suspended when he attempted to sell it back to him, but I’m not finding the angle.
Remember when Jimmy Carter in 1976 wanted to wean the U.S. off (foreign) oil and make them energy independent, so he enacted a National Energy Policy that focused on conservation, technology and innovation? But he was the dummy and was voted out of office and the U.S. elected intellectual Ronald Reagan?
I’m free Saturday night.
Did police ridealongs as part of a class while in college in PA.
The thing a lot of people don’t understand is that for most kids, playing football is a hell of a lot of fun. You know how as a kid you get in trouble for jumping on Grandma’s couch or jumping on the bed, or roughhousing and making the kid who’s into books cry? Well, playing football is an opportunity to do all those…
What makes you think we want ‘em? We already have the B.C. Lions.
This is why I regret not keeping up with the piano lessons. If I was a concert pianist it would totally help me get out of stuff. “I can’t (help you move, paint, push your car out of a snowbank, dogsit), I have to protect my hands.”
Those BHPND fuckers, always acting so big, they’re only forestalling the inevitable...
Yeah, I’m not sure the coaches were barbaric, it’s just that we didn’t know any better. I got knocked out a couple of times, once in football and once in rugby, and I don’t think I got to go back in, but maybe that’s more of a reflection on my indispensability than on the medical care we received. I saw stars, tasted…
I think it’s pretty clear that you as a high schooler spent too much time smoking under the bleachers instead of developing reading comprehension, you so misinterpreted Shea’s post. Maybe put down your phone and read a book for a while?
Same. We’d get told we were lucky, that it was “just a concussion”.
You’re kind of living up to your Kinja handle on this here thread.
+1 for this:
There’s a lot of confusion about concussions and specific sport’s or league’s concussion protocol by the general fan, but more shockingly, still by the coaches and managers and those responsible to keep their workplace and employees safe.
