Short answer, they’re best used on gradual buffed-out groomed slopes that are wide open, so you can really lay out giant turns. The problem is these slopes tend to attract other users, who get in the way. So I’ve used my carving board and hard boots less and less, and not at all for maybe ten or twelve years now.
