We rented a Rubicon in Utah and drove it all over (no we didn’t go to MOAB). It was awesome going down washes, handling surprise mud/clay slurry, going over boulders, etc.

Add to that: social distancing, not working (or not working as much), not driving (or not driving as much), etc and you end up with fewer people at the ER or in the hospital for all kinds of issues. I’d be interested to see numbers for other common contagious illnesses. So many risk factors have been flipped because…
Reading the comments here I felt like I was taking crazy pills. The book (at least the movie had some spectacle to it!) is just miserable. I read it because a co-worker so strongly suggested it. I don’t take book recommendations from him anymore.
The book is bad and the movie from the bad book couldn’t help to be bad. There are no puzzles. There is no real development. The main character has memorized and mastered thousands and thousands of hours of content as a teenager. It is temporally impossible that could have done this and it serves almost exclusively as…
Some of your comment could be about a 4Runner. Old platform, still many sold for high 40s. Used examples still sell for quite a bit though, and I’d rather the 4Runner myself.
We had a consultation with him a few months ago and would have gone ahead and use his services if all this shit wasn’t happening. We may still depending on how we come out of this. His regular fees aren’t really that much compared to the price of a car and/or all the bullshit you, as a regular buyer, would have to…
Wait until the 2021 model year dates start getting reached. Maybe those cars won’t actually be showing up on time (due to supply chain delays), but now the 2020 cars are “year old cars.” I would think dealers would be scrambling to unload their inventory at that point because most people buying new cars aren’t as inter…
1) I came out to my car parked on an urban side street to find people parked against the front and rear bumper. It was a 2 door 2004 Honda Accord. I wiggled it out of the spot pushing the cars in front and behind back and forth to pop it out of the spot. It was a manual too. So there was all that bonus clutch wear.
My experience is that mileage means very little to the size of my premiums. We always drive less and I regularly reduce the mileage expectations. It usually only drops things a few bucks.
Pretty sure it isn’t “costing” them anything. As described, they’re just reducing the windfall so it doesn’t look so fucked up. I’m sure the rest of the premiums they’re collecting on parked cars will still cover their overhead + regular profit margins + some extra above what they’d normally be making if people were…
So many people who don’t live in busy cities who went to one once and think that’s the worst one.
My wife and I have been WFH for the last week, so we get to hear a bit about what’s going on at each other’s jobs. We both work for large old corporations. On her calls, people are concerned about food and maintenance people who are essentially laid off during this mess. People are checking in with each other to make…
“The results showed the truck to emit 36 times more greenhouse gasses, and 21 times more particulate than it would if it were fitted with its proper emissions equipment.”
As I said in another comment, I’d be scared to take one of these too far off the beaten path. The reliability just isn’t there for Land Rover. Maybe even worse, when they break (and they will), the fix may well require a part made of moon rocks that needs to be shipped via cloned dodo bird from Madagascar. Getting…
We were looking at high trim 4Runners and realized that the Disco Sport was priced around the same amount comfortably equipped. Went and test drove one and it was really nice.
My father-in-law has always done minor car maintenance and repair stuff himself. When I got my grandfather’s ‘72 Impala the radiator was oozing and he agreed to help me remove it (which was stupid easy) and we took it to get re-cored. When it came time get coolant I mentioned getting distilled water. He said he always…
And the author mentions Ohio. Maybe up near the lake they get some snow, but Cinci barely gets any. The vast majority of people in Ohio do not need to be even considering studs. Ohio is where all season tires are meant for.
So tons of people are excited for it and only five people will buy it?
People in my condo complex love them. There’s like half a dozen of them at least. The oldest one (which is maybe five or six years old) sounds it is dragging around a heap of chains even when it is sitting in park.
Oh snap! The always rare admission that a “simple 15 minute job” can and often does take much much longer.
