> Any smaller pumping sites will be unviable, because you can’t have one of your six-twelve pumps out of commission for two hours or more on a single customer.

Damn straight. No one wants to deal with the lizards

Interesting how the average time spent here is 25min, or the average time to charge a modern EV to 80%. Yet I bet a majority of customers resent the idea of trading in their ICE...

Semis take up a lot of room and drivers have no issue taking their mandated off time in your lot, that means fewer spaces turning over with new customers. Semis have 2 people max; Cars/RVs are not going to park for 8-10 hours and they average 3+ occupants- more people mean more sales. Plus Truck stops are glorified

truckers sleep in the parking lot and will fill the place with trucks and never spend that much money. laso making it a bad image for families to spend time.

Plus, Buc-ee’s probably doesn’t want to deal with lot lizards.

Because it’s truckers that make truck stops places that everyone else avoids as much as possible on a road trip.

That sounds a lot like Love’s Truck Stops. They have several locations along I20/59 between Toomsuba. MS and Bessemer, AL and their tankers spend more time on the road than the log trucks and woodchip trucks. Yes, they will run over you if you get in their way.

Every truck stop/travel center has lot lizards. All of them. Bucc-ees doesn’t want that!

I mean, based on every other gas station I’ve ever been to, it doesn’t seem like those employees are particularly happy either. At least the Buc-ees pays better.

This is every job in the United States.

Do you have a diesel truck? Have you been on the trucker side of the island at night? When you fill up on the trucker side of the island on the regular, you’ll understand why a place that’s trying to be a tourist attraction and advertise clean bathrooms doesn’t want to deal with pee bottles.

Does it have direct pipelines, or do the tanker trucks come in every 10 minutes?

It really does, pretty much the exact kind of place to have for charging stops, stop, wander, micturate, ingest, all while your car chugs down electrons on a fast charger, get enough range for another two hours or so on the freeway. Would do wonders for road trip anxiety in more rural areas.

The irony is that a buc-ees makes an even better argument as an EV charging station

Between Louis DeJoy and the article’s source (AL.com), I feel like this is some viral hoopla my in-laws send around. “Water bottle on your car tire? ANTIFA’s trying to KIDNAP YOU!”.

I don’t know if firing Louis DeJoy would fix this, but it’s worth a shot

Sir this is a Wendy’s

the ‘fail’ rate of FedEx and UPS is multiple magnitudes higher than the USPS, regardless of the anecdotal evidence you just remember off the top of your head of a fractional number of incidents.
