Nothings stopping them from setting up a storefront themselves to sell their game right?  I mean, honestly, I think it would have been cheaper than spending what they did to change the game to get on steam.

OnlyGames

Exactly, give me my sex games! lol

Epic Sex Store, let's make it happen!

Isn’t that what Nutaku is?

We shall call the new platform “Steamy”.

meanwhile they look the other way with creepy little girl anime games.

People that say “git gud” don’t have a job, a spouse, kids, dogs, etc.

What the hell are you talking about? you save LOTS in Dark Souls. Bonfires exist, you know.

Two crashes in one room? This is Returnal, not Cyberpunk.

That’s a fair solution.   I think Dead Cells has a hidden back end auto save.  I swear I’ve started up my switch after shutting the game down to get an extra attempt when i’ve died to something stupid.

Everyone’s replies in this thread are making me think through this more and more...

But there is a lot more to game saving than a number of specific unlocks.

At its most simple, permanent unlocks are just a Boolean variable that is part of an object. So that’s pretty easy to build in. Each upgrade has a “yes/no” variable attached to it that says whether you’ve unlocked it or not.

But remember that

That doesn’t make sense because the game already saves your progress in the form of permanent unlocks. So the save system is already there, in some form at least.

1) Dark Souls doesn’t really have “runs,” though; you’re just exploring until you run into a bonfire. And it does have autosave, so you can quit and not necessarily lose your progress.

If you play more than one game at a time, or god forbid share your PS5 with other people, rest mode isn’t a viable solution.

Basically everyone is asking for a quick save, not a constantly accessible list of past save files. It's about being able to take a break, not about save scumming. (Though honestly, if people want to save scum in a single player game I don't know why anyone cares...)

Lack of a save feature doesn’t make a game harder, it just makes the developers a bunch of dicks.

$10 says that the underlying architecture of the game doesn’t allow for saving progress in any way.

I think the difference for other Roguelikes is apparently runs in this game can be 3-4-5 hours long or what not.  Contrast to a Hades, Dead Cells, or OG Rogue Legacy, not taking a full work day for one run.
