Yes, I am also wondering how he’s as worshipped as he is — his stuff is fair to middling most of the time with a nugget of good thrown in.

Yeah, I took it to mean she’s not afraid to commit to looking ‘bad’ in a role -- she can play anything and make it funny.

From a story about TCM:

That’s a great point. If the new owner is such a film fan, maybe he’ll really put an effort behind getting the TCM better stocked on their site, and more respect and spotlight as the gem it is.

I don’t see the reason for this being about a ‘few women of color got snubbed’ at this point. I think that’s a bit of a reach. I think this is more about bucking a well-lubed system that includes using dollars to get attention. If she got a nomination using NO real money, that disturbs the system and that’s got to be

I saw him on tour for his first album when I lived in Seattle. The amount of breaks so women could scream became unbearable. And he milked it for all it was worth. I vowed never to go back, but one would hope he’s become better at managing his performances.

That Cousin Vinny album has some really fucked up lyrics about the character Marisa Tomei played in the film. In the movie he could be rude to her, but in the song he really says some vile things about her. Weird tone.

Everything Everywhere and Tar were tied for my favorite films from last year. Loved them both!

Nope, he’s still blind. Just because we don’t see him on camera doesn’t mean he’s recovered. He’s a pig, but still a blind one.

And this may or may not be it. I have a love/hate relationship with Lynch’s work, and I felt the same about this movie. It definitely had me frustrated with how indirect it was -- just like Lynch is at times -- and other times I was titillated by the thrilling images and creepy ideas -- just like Lynch at times. HAHA,

I certainly don’t mean that to be a denigration of Lynch, or even this film. I just use that as shorthand for the kind of experience to expect. Sometimes I find Lynch’s obtuseness frustrating, at other times I find it beautiful.

I don’t have zoomer brain and really appreciate places that are hard on people using their phones (I went to an Alamo Drafthouse, which is famous for discouraging phone use.) And it was still a goddamn struggle to get through! It felt longer than ‘Babylon’ played at half-speed, and I didn’t hate it -- but I can see

I was one of those sucked into a theater to see it this weekend. It’s both one of the most exhausting movies I have seen and has some of the best/creepy moments I’ve seen in a horror movie (although somewhat ruined by cheap ass jump scares). I can’t say the movie equals the sum of it’s parts, but its neither exactly

Absolutely agree...it would be one of the best 20 min horror shorts I’ve ever seen.

I doubt that’s gonna happen, but I can say that I definitely was a little deflated to see Murray show up in the trailer. Him we could do without.

Yeah, I also know someone who knows Don Cheadle pretty well and he said that Denzel was very unhappy shooting ‘Devil in a Blue Dress’ because he felt that Cheadle’s performance was overshadowing his. I believe he was shitty to Don and may have tried to limit his screen time even more. Real childish move.

I use You Tube TV and the local CW station isn’t even carried by the service! HAHA, how is THAT for low rated??

Hell, this movie not only references ‘Singin’ in the Rain’, it mirrors it in certain scenes. And that movie was by few means accurate about the period it was taking place in.

Having seen it now, it feels like Baz Luhrmann directing Boogie Nights. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not entirely unfamiliar.
