The expressions on Hank and Cristobal’s face listening to him talk, followed by the reveal that he just broke into their house, was my biggest laugh of the night
Following the Stonewall incident, gay leadership rejected the idea that straight men disliked gay men for the reasons straight men gave (Bad life outcomes compared to straight life; merely a perversion; a mental illness; disgust at the sex practices).
Instead, gay organizations supported the narrative that anti-gay…
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me....unless it’s a trans joke in which case I will make a blog post on avclub while holding back tears of rage that someone would dare to make a trans joke.
Yeah I know. You might hear jokes you don’t like!
and they’d be right.
You almost never know who the opening act is for a comedy show and sometimes you don’t like that act.
…just your regular reminder that stand-ups will always band together because “being allowed to say whatever I want on stage” always trumps “ not being an asshole”

And I would add that the crypto-fascism interpretation doesn’t really work for a character whose preferred mode is solitude - group identity and…
It’s also worth mentioning that the character of Walter Sobchak in The Big Lebowski was directly inspired by Milius, which makes that movie retroactively funnier, and also makes Conan a lot funnier, too.
To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!
I like Destroyer for what it is but it does not have this speech, thus its inferior
Aw, no mention of Basil Poledouris’s legendary score for the film? It practically makes the movie. Conan’s prayer to Crom intercut with Thulsa Doom and his riders closing in as the sweeping music plays always gets to me.
The soundtrack still slaps.
They’ll probably discontinue the Zune next.
Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine are two of his best performances (granted both allowed his comedic talents to show through) and got him a lot of credibility with both critics and audiences who were tired of his plasticman schtick. But like many comedy actors trying to prove themselves as serious, he went too hard…
The third one is rough but the joke about Seth Green actually turning evil as Dr. Evil turns good was pretty good IMO.
