That was probably one of the most mild teenage rebellions I’ve ever seen in a movie.

I’m just happy to see a lot of comments here about the movie being mostly ok and none of the “Disney is conditioning children to have sex and rebel” comments I’ve been seeing from Concerned, White Christian Mothers(TM) on Facebook.

I thought it was... fine. Middle of the pack Pixar.

Turning Red/A Bug’s Life crossover!

Yeah, wasps and red pandas are creatures notorious for not understanding each other’s point of view.

I don’t know if “period piece” is the correct term here, usually to count as a period piece a movie has to be set at least 20 years in the paOH MY GOD.

I have to admit; I did click on this article half-wondering if it would be an actual movie review.

Considering how the AV Club’s review of Turning Red already touched on all these themes (at the expense of talking about stuff like plot, pacing, voice acting, animation quality, etc.), I don’t really see the point of rehashing, yet again, how the movie is Important and Good. And to be clear: I’m excited to see

Being set in 2002 makes this movie a period piece in two senses!

Ray is pretty much the only character he has ever played, I think, and he created him himself, so perhaps he’s most comfortable doing that (or wanted to wait til he was done with Mr. Inbetween).

Start with a health food cult

The best way to piss off the toxic fanboys would be to prominently include women of color.

NVIXM wasn’t a sex cult. It was just a regular cult. There was a sex cult, which Allison Mack recruited women for, within NVIXM but AFAIK the actress that plays Aunt Beru and her husband weren’t a part of it.

“And she and her husband were able to escape that NIXVM sex cult.”

I have a unique set of force-ghost skills ...

Not convinced about the conspiratorial aspect of Disney doing something ethically shitty and releasing Star Wars product at the same time. Both those things are just kind of, you know, what they do.

I’m looking forward to the episode where Obi-Wan visits its sister planet Tattooyou.

Everybody’s excited to have Ewan McGregor back as Obi-Wan, but I’m more excited for Bonnie Piesse to return as Aunt Beru. Ewan McGregor is a movie star who has had a fine career in the past 20 years. Joel Edgerton, likewise, has done alright for himself. Piesse has had sporadic bit parts and appearances in shorts, so

Tattooine is the name of the tattoo parlour where Obi-Wan goes to ink up. Unfortunately, the Jedi frown upon tattooing so he has to keep them covered with long-sleeved robes.
