i think ‘groundbreaking’ is a bit of a stretch considering it’s an adaptation. this was a good version of something that had already broken ground.

“Mafia” was the episode that aired directly after the Jim & Pam wedding episode, and you can see how aggressively they’re phoning it in after going all out for that 2-parter (they had a habit of this. The legendary dinner party episode was followed immediately by the chair model episode, one of the worst of the

I didn’t even get “mildly amusing” from the trailer, to be honest. Given who is involved in the show, it should be right up my alley, but looks like it’ll be all at sea instead.

Oh fuck, I can’t believe I didn’t think of this earlier

I mean, it DOES have pirates, right?

Gonna give this a try on the pedigree and, ya know, PIRATES, but...hopefully you grow more into it over the course of the season.

I can understand not loving how the third act came together and played out, but I have a hard time imagining people not liking that final fight scene. Dowd refers to it as unmemorable but it is so dynamic and full of life. Iron Man 3 was the first time it really felt like super heroes were worthy of being on the big

A fair reevaluation, one that makes your departure all the more regrettable. Whoever gets your byline next will be lucky to have you. And now — ahem— I have some notes:

Attempting to encapsulate all of a movie’s qualities with a one-byte letter grade has always been ridiculous. The world would be a better place if film reviews never contained letter grades or star ratings or any other kind of numerical summary.

I always appreciated your reviews and I’m looking forward to reading your stuff elsewhere. Whatever my (myriad) issues with post-disqus AV Club, I thought the film coverage remained excellent and insightful. Disappointed to see yet another talented writer leave as the AV Club hastens its transformation into...I don't

“I’ve made a huge mistake.”

Marty is going into the witness relocation program and they will put him in a family of real estate developers in Southern California. This show is a prequel to Arrested Development.

It seems like they have to die somehow, but even as I type it I’m skeptical that Marty dies just because he’s proven to be the unkillable cockroach up to this point. But killing each other would be fitting, since they’ve been slowly doing it for years anyway. If Wendy lives, she’ll end up being governor or senator or

An unhappily married couple and their children are put to a harrowing test when everything in the world turns blue.

Not just the cartel---she shot the leader of the mob too.

I feel like this show is going to end with Marty & Wendy dead, Omar & Javi dead, and a new empire being built up by Ruth, Jonah & Zeke. Charlotte will inherit the casino or something equally unimportant.

I feel they did Wendy dirty this season with her miscalculating things, but I think they are trying to draw some parallels between her and how Darlene ended up the way she did.

spring break in a midwestern lake town.

Isn’t Zeke in the car with her?
