I think part of it is Shiv’s “limousine liberal” shtick proving completely hollow, which I suspect many in the audience find particularly galling. But I also think part of it is the sense that Shiv endured less childhood abuse than Kendall or Roman.  I think it is clear she by no means escaped unscathed, but I suspect

I still feel like this season is perhaps leading up to Shiv making some sort of bridge-burning open move against Logan (or at least trying to, even if it gets blown up in some way).  We shall see.

Per Wikipedia and IMDB, it looks like Doody had a fairly steady “starlet” type career up through 1994, when she was 28 and appeared in Major League II. But in 1994 she married into serious wealth—the O’Reilly family, which I believe may have been the richest family in Ireland at the time, and she married the

Only about halfway through, but I have started enjoying it much more ever since I adopted a policy of simply fast-forwarding through the Vicious/Julia scenes.  I don’t normally take such radical steps, but I am pretty sure I would have entirely quit on the show otherwise.

Art is good/bad when one particular person likes/dislikes it, namely me.

The show is definitely taking a long, luxurious soak in Shiv’s unearned arrogance and easy corruptibility. Which I am OK with as it is quite enjoyable for me, but I agree if this is just all there is going to be to Shiv’s story, it would ultimately limit her relevance.

So that’s completely fair. I absolutely had to intellectualize Ed to make her an important and sympathetic character in the anime, and undoubtedly it was the overall context of the anime that allowed me to do that so seamlessly. Call it a type of halo effect.

I’m with you on the context of anime being critical to Ed’s appeal, but to me she was more than halfway palatable, she was a major part of why I liked the anime. Maybe part of that was I always felt she was even more broken inside than Spike or Faye (Jet isn’t even a contender), and that provided a tension and depth

Gilmore Girls is pretty on point, though, because at least the sequences set at college were basically about new female students at Yale (including Rory) dealing with romantic issues while also juggling classes, activities, and family. I note there was also some overlap of those seasons with the first few seasons of

The main one that comes to my mind is the seasons of Gilmore Girls set at Yale.

That’s my favorite lyric from The Sound of Music.

Deuxne.

Assball.

Yes! Why do these hack ripoff movies keep featuring beloved actresses I simply can’t resist even in bad roles . . . oh, right.

I still favor the “Pitch Black” hypothesis.

Rose Leslie needs to be in something I actually want to watch!

I see Nielsen in a similar category as Dolph Lundgren. Definitely had the physical presence, but something was lacking relative to a Sandahl Bergman, Arnold, or so on.

I do think Gillan did a nice job with the action sequences in the Jumanji movies. But I understand the concern about her ability to play “ferocious, and personally I would support casting a wide net in terms of ethnicity and age and such to find someone who can really nail the character, as opposed to the specific

I’m also with Catie. A naming convention that provides for efficient communication of the nature of a service is a good thing.  And the problem is then Apple News+, not every other service using it according to the convention that it signifies a streaming service.

Yes, I have no interest in live TV, but like Hulu as a streaming service.
