Not much of a show. The only creative things were the cold opening and the digital short. Four of the sketches revolved around singing, dancing, or both. Tons of cameos and that is the formula for current SNL. All sizzle, no steak.

I'd rather they look outside of the show to repalce Seth on update. Everyone involved with it right now is terrible. Seth is incredibly stale and the jokes themselves are flat out awful.

He was very awkward in the Helga Lately sketch but he did exceed my expectations.

This episode exceeded my expectations but the last three sketches (Helga Lately, Drag Queen Contest, and TCM Essentials) were all terrible. I'd give it a C

Even in a role like that she is robotic. She looked even worse in The Californians sketch. Maybe the show is getting to her or she has a lack of confidence due to not getting any significant roles but I do not remember her being this bad last season.

Overall, I thought the show was alright. I thought Update was the only thing close to being embarrasingly bad. Garth & Kat are torture and Seth's bus layover as the saddest attempt at a joke by Seth in quite some time. Watching Sudeikis phone it in is getting sad.

Vanessa Bayer is not comfortable on stage, either. She is lifeless and robotic in nearly every performance. People rip on Jay but give her a free pass. It makes no sense
 

Watching this episode futher proves that Vanessa Bayer is a horrible performer . She is only capable of one facial expression and in 95% of her sketches she appears lifeless and robotic. That bit went on forever. They should have shaved two minutes off of it. Moynihan does great but it was getting repetitive.

Bayer, to me, is one of the worst on the show. She only has one facial expression and is essentially lifeless when she is performing. Her and Abby are not very useful.
