In 1982 the NHRA switched the rules for its Pro Stock class from a complicated weight break formula based on cubic inches and engine type to a straight 500 cubic inch formula with a maximum of 8 carburetor throttle bodies (most run dual Holley Dominators, but one guy ran 8 2-barrels for some reason).
