I thought maybe, MAYBE, as a seriously ill advised splurge, but then I read on their site that the milled aluminum is soft and you have to extra careful now to ding it up... Considering the price and that the neat milling details are kinda a key design feature to me I can’t see getting it as it would get dinged and

We did our first race on about $5k total, maybe a bit more with food factored in (we ate a LOT, i had team chefs) $600 for the car, 1985 GTI, we sold some interior bits. Needed a caliper or two, all the safety stuff, we got a used bolt in cage, and then had it improved by a cage builder. 4/5 of us needed race suits,

Thats true, i was referring to some pretty old cars now... there must be some trickle down from Audi’s diesel program, you don’t change the game that much without learning some generally applicable tricks. Of course I don’t have a clue what they might be, but...

The 1998 Le Mans winning Porsche GT1 ran an engine that is basically the same as the one in the 996 turbo, the GT1 engine, same block, heads etc... that why they easily make 600+ hp. A little bit older, but there are definitely synergies.

it does, heard it at rennsport reunion this fall, seeing it take corners at Laguna Seca flat out was awesome.

my first car out of college was my mom’s old bonneville SSEi, that 3.8L 6 with supercharger would light the fronts up whether you wanted to or not! My first car, a beat to hell, 85 camaro, couldn’t do burnouts as well as that boat!

came here to post this :)

This one made me LOL :

Also it’s a non-runner, completely seized up engine I believe. But you’re very correct, that is not the original paint, it’s a reproduction, a recreation.

Years ago I got involved in one of these sort of operations. We restored a guys roadrunner while he was deployed. He came back early and and we had to make up some stories about having to move it because the base commander was unhappy with it leaking oil, and then made up more stories about it being at somebody’s

The TV on Motorhome is the ultimate race track accessory. Cause you can’t see every corner, and if you’re at daytona for the 24 you need to stop to eat, drink etc and this beats sleeping in the grandstands. Mostly because you can’t, legally, start a fire in the stands for warmth. But you can sleep in a camp chair near

somebody clearly didn’t ride around in enough station wagons! My mom put us in the back of the chevy all the time, i think by making us farther way from her we were less annoying :)

I was on the beach that morning with my grandmother, also when I was in second grade. It was my first and only in-person shuttle launch...

Yup, just like the Porsche trucks too. Sell them trucks and keep funding the sports cars!

Same one, I watched it drive out of the historic tent. Such a gorgeous car!

There was a single 908/3 but it didn’t run sunday, it was out at least for a couple practices, not sure if it was in the group 4 qualifying race or not...

Also not true, there was definitely a 906 running in Group 4. I remember how compliant the suspension was compared to modern cars, I was surprised how much I could see it move from track side.

There was one 904 that I saw, it was a street one and did a few laps saturday in the heritage group...
