As a web developer I cannot understand the avalanche of bad decisions surrounding basically every change that has ever been made to the Kinja comment system. It’s been years! “Load the comments for the article” is not that difficult of a concept! Get it right!
It’s a testing problem. There is nothing stopping us from opening up as long as we can quickly test the population so we can get ahead of any outbreaks by controlling those who become infected.

Your average weather person is actually EXTREMELY accurate. It’s just the public doesn’t know how to understand forecasts. Will it rain on your head? Nobody can predict that. Will it rain in your city? Yes, they’re pretty accurate at predicting that actually.
Statistics are showing that the vast majority of deaths (99% or more) are people with underlying conditions.

So they’re right, but are presenting the facts in a very misleading manner. Yes, LOTS of hospitals are facing layoffs and furloughs right now. However, many/most of these layoffs are to workers that do not contribute in the fight against COVID-19.
Maybe understand that hospitals are not laying people off becuase they are not busy, but that they have cut all non-essential procedures and operations, in order to mitigate infection and transmission. That is why they are have been laying people off.
This is a highly contagious disease which is communicable for days before you show symptoms.

And how will that magical ‘other country’ get its act together faster than the US? OH RIGHT! By doing the PROPER things NOW and not needlessly prolonging this pandemic.
If the largest economy in the world can’t sustain unemployment benefits for it’s citizens for 3-4 months, then it’s ridiculously fragile and probably should die. We’re talking a few months here.... not for all eternity.
