Meh, for automakers, Formula 1 isn’t about making better cars. It’s about making better engineers. Also, it would serve us well to remember all motorsports are vanity projects.

What everyone else have stated, and one more thing: cost. It’s a lot easier for a taxi fleet to swallow the cost of a multi-hundred thousand USD sensor suite that’s currently required for full autonomy, when they don’t have to pay a driver. Removing a driver who makes $15/hr (about $30k/yr) means the fleet saves…
Ah! I see your point and totally agree. My wife will probably look at me sideways and sigh if I get one. Might be totally worth it.
Then I worry about having the car become nose-heavy.
“At least a decade”. How cute. Chip cards were commonplace in Japan by 2002. :)
I want Honda to create a S2400 with a 2.4L I6 engine in a FMR layout.
Hey now. My Arc’teryx jackets and I go skiing just like everyone else. As do my Patagonia base layers and Kühl fleeces. And, yes, they go to Whole Foods with me too. Are you stalking me? 😳
“something cool” or just out-right crashes during a race? Good thing we didn’t do this with Maldonado; all new tracks would be full of Maldonado Corners.
Coolest car my parents owned? A pimped-out Chevy Astro conversion van. Coolest car my rich uncle’s friend owned? A Ferrari F-40.
Just out of curiosity, and I understand if the answer is “I can’t talk about this” for whatever reasons, but is Renault going to stick around? Their one customer, McLaren, left, and they’re very nonchalant about the situation.
Well this probably removes Penske as a potential buyer of Renault Formula 1 team when their corporate owners throw in the towel. No way he’d enter a racing series competing with IndyCar now.
I don’t know where Albon will be in 2 years. Hopefully Renault stays, them and Honda narrow their gaps vs Ferrari and Mercedes, and Ferrari improve their aero and with any luck, we’ll see a 5- or 6-way fight for constructor’s.
I love Hamilton when he’s winning. He comes across as one of the most gracious winners in Formula 1. I hate Hamilton’s whinges when he’s at all losing. This, I know, is why I personally have never warmed up to him.
And Leclerc.
God, fuck McLaren.
Would getting access to Tesla’s supercharger network be sufficient?
“If he wins the championship then they should just let the reserve driver go for it for the rest of the season.”
“I mean, Renault are probably looking over at Honda and thinking it’ll be a net positive.”
I6 will always sound and feel better than I4, and having a hybrid mapping more low-end torque would make it even better.
Yep. But if the 63 engines are downsizing, Perhaps use the same engines as the 53 and add even more electric boosts?
