I’ve seen, on I-55 in St. Louis, a bright red pickup pulling someone over. Nothing obviously cop-car about it, except when it lights up.

I won’t try to “haggle” the price via text/call, but I will ask if they are firm on the price.

“I’m a single mother”

Why can’t they sell Renault cars in their dealerships?

Cost of an Uber plummeted because of what they call a “virtuous cycle”. I’ll put in a link to what that means below. But basically it’s the network effect — more people riding means less the driver spends idle, which means even with a lower fare, drivers make more money, and because of a lowered fare, more people

I don’t know about Chicago but to be a ride-hail driver in NYC, you need a Taxi and Limousine Commission license and plate to do so. You know, the same NYC government bits that regulate medallion cabs.

I love lowered Cayennes. I feel like they’re the practical Porsches that needed to be released, not the first-gen Panamera.

Why not just take the Uber to work?

Remember Dunlop brand is now owned by Goodyear.

That’s why I found it delightful. I guess the sarcasm didn’t go through.

In my fiancée’s CR-V, “auto” also means “automagically turn on the high beams”. It was absolutely delightful in heavy fog and snowstorm.

Look, I’d be out of my mind to say they’re completely fine, but I’d much rather get on, say, an 8th Ave line to go downtown from my Hell’s Kitchen apartment than sit in the traffic shithole that is the 9th Ave.

From what I’ve been hearing, you don’t really want to ride the train and a bus just gets stuck in the same traffic you’d be in if you were driving.

We in NYC find it totally adorbs when people in and near San Fran insist on calling theirs “The City”.

Only a person who calls The City “San Fran”

Montblanc is definitely a thing. They sell watches, leather goods, pens, etc.

me: oval ones are more expensive to manufacture.

So... oval valves are cheaper to manufacture? :)

As a former San Diego resident, having Orange County be lumped with San Diego and not LA seems a bit ... odd.

Oval valves probably cost more to manufacture, since you can’t just shove blanks for oval ones into a CNC lathe and have one pop out.
