All I know is that my 6 year old son and I had a fun time playing that wave-survival game on Tattooine in the beta. That alone was alluring enough for the both of us, and having other modes is just icing on the galactic cake.

The balance comes in the fact that it gives you the minigun but you don’t have a crosshair when you aim with it, so you waste a whole shitload of ammo.

I think they did that on purpose, because that mission is basically a tutorial. Anyway, afterwards you don’t have enough energy in the fusion core or ammo to really use it again until later. Personally, I haven’t touched it since even though I have more than enough ammo and cores saved.

I feel like it’s balanced by the fact that you’re not wearing it 24/7 like in previous games. Yeah, I’ve got my power armor early... but it’s essentially a consumable resource. Same sort of deal with the Minigun... sure, I’ve got it, but I don’t have unlimited ammo. Hell, I can barely keep a .308 fed early on.
