it also has “don’t look Meyers in the eye, or he’ll eat your soul” energy. You know, the soul sucking kind.

I mean, it’s kind of impressive, but he was wearing neoprene booties. It’s not like it punched through insulated, steel-toed work boots.
I was just thinking about how I like this one better than the original. The first Matrix is fine, and visually it was spectacular, but it never surprised me narratively. You know which pill he’s going to take, and you know he’s going to be “The One.” It just scans as very 101 heroes journey.
“Mark Hamill and Chris Wood voice Skeletor and He-Man, respectively...” “They got Alan Oppenheimer, the original Skeletor, back.” I’m confused. Also very excited for Griffin Newman as Orko.
I don’t think that’s the thought process, but it certainly sounds like you’ve got a pretty narrow interpretation of what other people are allowed to be entertained by.
I saw that pic as thumbnail on the homepage and shuddered at the thought we were getting some scandalous biopic about Steve Bannon. On an unrelated Harvey Guillén will definitely age into the perfect actor to play Steve Bannon when we’re emotionally ready to be “entertained” by his life story or stories of recent…
“All of that is to say that American exceptionalism, even when deployed sarcastically, isn’t really all that funny anymore.”
DON’T PLAY WITH MY EMOTIONS.
I guess I’m just unclear about the underpinning premise. Does Marvel/Disney want to survive a risky gauntlet, or do they want to remain the mystical alchemists who create monetary value from perfecting formulas? I love Marvel movies, (a lot) but also perceive them as a case study in relentlessly pursuing what works,…
If that scans as bragging, you may need to recalibrate. Unless you’re just strutting the internet looking for confrontations. In which case, I’m sure your cup will always runneth over.
It’s a helluva thing when it’s so cringe you can’t finish a clip video edited down for social media.
Can we speed up that timeline? That dude has been popular way too long.
As somebody from the Boston area who has had to live through the fetishization of accent work (and generally the vibe which feels not deserving of such attention), it’s been very interesting to hear Winslet’s work here, and to know is generally approved of. I almost have had to judge it a degree removed, not knowing…
I have a lot of love for this site (and even wrote some newswires back in the old Disqus days). I rarely take an article to task. But this just feels like a misreading of the show, top to bottom.
So this is a newswire about a billboard, not actually KF or Marvel/Disney doing anything? Uhhhhh okay.
I’d rather have it be as long as it needs to than spanning 90+ minutes to tick off a box. Totally anecdotal subjective observation, but I feel like there’s a lot of 2hr+ movies out there in the last decade that don’t need to be, because of pressure to make movies feel more substantial.
Counterargument... It’s not great, but it’s definitely better.
haha that was an awesome casting decision. I remember when the House of Mouse bought Fox, there were a lot of (well-written) hand-wringing articles about how Disney being able to add the X-Men to the MCU wasn’t worth the damage that such a consolidation would represent in the industry. Those articles weren’t wrong…
I’m not going to fault the writer’s room and showrunners for not being clairvoyant failing to know about the sacking of the capital building, but... all the signs for this have kind have been there. Which makes Flagg and Vegas a missed opportunity. In addition to the absolute violent control that Flagg’s Vegas…
IMHO, people not realizing that they are dumber than they think they are is a problem not exclusive to famous entertainers—they just get invited to spout off.
