If you’re confused about this move, I suggest you read “Girls to the Front” a history of Riot Grrl, and why musicians like Kathleen Hannah felt it was important to create space for women in the front of the venue. It’s wonderful to see this sentiment being carried on here for Women of Color.

this is something that comes from the Riot Grrl movement of asking women to move to the front so they can be safer. Obviously it’s optional, but I think it’s cool she’s doing it.
