It really is a vanity project- if you're a member of NWA who isn't Dre, Cube and to a lesser extent Easy E you barely exist, or are written out of the story completely. All of the rough edges are smoothed over- particularly Dre's history of violence against women.

the ethnically diverse team is accurate to how the Howling Commandos were portrayed in the comics- except for the Japanese-American soldier. the movie makers didn't sanitize anything- they were being faithful to the source material, if not actual history.

i'm not a lawyer, but while both Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were created in X-Men, they really didn't stick around very long in that book and are much more closely associated with The Avengers so both Fox and Disney were able to both use the characters- it would make sense that the same logic could be applied to…

Captain America was a legend BEFORE he came back to the world. If I got to pal around with one of the best people who ever lived I would gladly give up my job to help him out.
