Nice price even if the Outback transmission shreds itself. Inadequate cooling in the slushbox was the big Achilles' hell with these cars, so the 5-speed is a huge improvement. NP especially with the new(er) engine.

Goldberg Motoren Werke.

This means I might have to go elsewhere for Saab news!

Dongfeng got me fired from my last job.

Facepalm Motors?

I'm sure they could, but then you'd have a 5-liter engine, a larger car, and a few hundred more pounds of weight.

Dunno, but clearly Java handles better at speed.

The scandalized public was amazed at how a seven-year-old could get out on the highway all by himself.

Well done, Scottydawg. That was a nice double take.

Some quick research suggests the transmission was actually two Dana-Spicer two-speed units connected in series. The shifting was accomplished by centrifugal weights that aligned at a certain engine speed. Really cool, but fixing it would be a learning experience.

I would be driving away as best I could. These storms are infamous for causing fiery death.

Hahaha. Zombie Javelin sales are not registering month-over-month.

That is so DC.

I'm with you on the choice (I'd much sooner shop Lotus than Renault), but the R5 is an emotional choice. The Elise is also more reliable, lighter (I think) and more powerful than a similar Frenchie, the Peugeot turbo T16, but the price on one of those will make the R5 look like an absolute steal.

Well said. A visit to France revealed to me why there are so few roundabouts in the U.S. The roads are largely fragmented and rural in France. Traffic generally moves more slowly, and the traffic circle allows people to quickly move through villages but also serves to calm traffic speeds. With the traffic loads in the

You do realize that automakers sold 3-speeds in dog-leg configuration for 40 or 50 years? No complaints, really, except for the lack of more speeds.

Interesting find. Michelotti was an older designer, better known for well-tailored Maseratis, so this was a big departure for him. Gandini's Carabo stole the show later that year in Paris.

Wow, so fiiiiinally they've got something to rap about in Norway.
