According to Wookiepedia, B-Wings were supposed to replaced Y-Wings, but were difficult to maintain, so few were made, while the Y-wings got some upgrades. Eventually, the X-Wings got upgraded also to handle bombing runs, so I’m guessing everything else was phased out.
