Reasonable, I guess. One sees "appalling" quite a bit more than "appealing" round these parts.

Didn't Joss Whedon write it? That would explain it. People really shouldn't be allowed to do that for their own shows.

How long has it been since you read Harry Potter?

Legitimizing your opinion on a popular and beloved fantasy series by bashing another, wildly popular and better loved fantasy series might be a slight miscalculation.

@avclub-5b8e4fd39d9786228649a8a8bec4e008:disqus , what percentage of Israelis do you think speak fluent English? I'm guessing you've lived there? Because I spent a week there last year, and everyone spoke English.

You're right on all counts, but the way the reveal is handled is still awfully contrived. The captain, sure, has means and opportunity to know, but he has not been established as trustworthy. When he told me the aliens are obviously stockpiling WMDs, I had a flashback to 2004 and did not believe him. I guess it all

Now that I've seen it and had time to think about it, what bothers me most is how it's ultimately the Captain who figures it out. He never set foot outside the fucking ship. How is he the one with the insight, and why does everyone seem to take him seriously? WMDs, are you kidding? They're not even weapons. They're
