Doubtless, the ocean is an extreme danger to all of us mainlanders. More than we even realize. I respect the hell out of open water, and that goes doubly for some place like Hawaii with its riptides and large swells.

This is fairly interesting. I would have thought, before reading it, that: 1) the numbers were farther apart, but 2) less far than most people believe. Women can have conservative viewpoints, too, even on abortion.

To be clear, I was not disagreeing with you.  But trials carry a lot of risk, and when someone has a good yarn to spin, that risk increases.  The prosecutors could make a run at trial, lose, and then she really doesn’t get what she deserves.  

Could be. The implication is that somehow it was a harbinger of the fact that Franco wasn’t ready to fight. But since it was pre-fight coming off a win, that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

You are probably right.  But her defense would be “if I was not myself brainwashed, do you think I’d have gotten my daughter involved?”  And that would likely go a long way. 

Oh, and Tyrion’s beard is pretty good.  Thick as hell.

That is probably the most animated I can recall seeing him about anything other than a read.  He really did love the show.

He’s not an especially funny person.  But he nevertheless sometimes says funny things.  Like most of the people who have ever existed.  Hell of a thing.

I think there is a bit of a difference between playing the anthem at the Olympics and before your average sporting event.

Right?  It is probably nearing a decade since I watched anything on ESPN other than live sports with any consistency.  And that includes 30 for 30, which I’ve caught on demand sporadically over the years.

Not everything does. But sometimes sports and politics (broadly defined) are going to intersect, and locking up when that happens like one of those fainting goats when it is frightened is worthy of derision. 

The front page of ESPN is something like 83% “Stephen A says ....” and “Max says ....”

Minneapolis has them! First city in the USA to get on the world’s top 20 cities for biking list. I don’t know if it remains in that spot, that was a couple of years ago.

There are pretty easy ways to make them more effective.  Including putting up barriers, even ones that are mostly visual.
