I guess the whole “jumping out of a cage to fight members of the opponents team” thing may have been a tell.

He seems to have gotten the same stupid question, and being upset by it appears to be motivated more by the fact that Geno is the most famous coach in women’s college basketball. I doubt those words, even coming from some lesser-known male coach, would be seen as in any way insulting or grandstanding or anything

Khabib really needs to learn that the best response is nothing. 1) I suspect it would get under Conor’s skin; 2) refusing to give him another fight is actually fairly powerful at this point. He already embarrassed him once.

Durant has become the weirdest, most bitter star in the NBA. What does he have to be so mad about?

A good question, but best left for the philosophers I fear.

    1. The

Endorsed. Leave hero-and-star-worship to kids liking athletes and musicians.  Politics is too important.

I once had a high school girlfriend whose ex-boyfriend would come up to her and (from the front) sniff her hair. He was obsessed, obviously, and he’d just like... lean in and sniff her hair. I’d get enraged, but she always played it cool and told me to calm down, it was harmless, blah blah blah.

Deadspin likes to go at organizations, and I get it. Hell, the whole plot of Spotlight is that the Globe held onto a story about priests raping kids until they had the evidence to show the larger issue within the church.

Was there. Not shown here, Okogie should have had 3 shots on a foul just before that Durant launch. They also called it a non-shooting foul, so he only had two shots and only made one. That put the Timberwolves up three. Call it a makeup, call it consistent, whatever. Point is, if the refs were screwy, it was both

When he goes, I'll likely slip into low-level depression.

    *Most reluctant +1 ever

Honestly, I hate to agree. She really has had a remarkable career. But lately, when I see her name, it doesn’t instill confidence.

Kinda like mostly grown versions of those Aussie girls.

See, that’s the part I actually understood. It was the rest of the post I really couldn’t follow.  I went back and got the rest of the context, and now I follow what he is saying.  It was more fun when I didn’t, though.

I read this five times. I still don't know what the hell he intended to convey.

It’s not that people think Nike is somehow achieving Sainthood via some of its employees or agents (allegedly) paying college athletes; its just that people also don’t think they are achieving the opposite and becoming demons.  People just don’t give a shit.

Understandably, you’ve read some additional scum into Avenatti’s words.  He doesn’t bring up his current clients in the quoted language, let alone the merit of their claims.  He is simply suggesting that with those claims public, all sorts of people will come out of the woodwork to try and jump on the gravy train, and

Right. He was just relying on that unwritten agreement worth potentially millions of dollars given where RG3 was in 2012. Never bothered getting it in writing.

Could be I am way off base, but unless he brings forth something pretty damn compelling he wouldn’t want me on his jury. And I would say that before finding out
