... but are not treating Venus and Sloane Stephens like this.

That’s actually pretty interesting. I wonder if it is post-Lance overreaction.

Having a clear statement can be edifying. Diana seems genuinely torn re: what the best response is to some of these cases, and I can understand that. Joining the mob and getting out the pitchforks is easy. Virtually any other response is difficult. To me, the article acknowledges that.

Nothing says unassailable veteran leadership than being completely pissy about something irrelevant that happened three weeks ago.

Depends. He may have Bill Walton in mind from closer to his era, and be looking for someone to carry that torch. Certainly looking across to the NFL, where many of the biggest names are white quarterbacks, it sure would be nice if any one of them had taken up the lead last fall. Rodgers could certainly handle

Thank you for this melt. There’s nothing quite like people who are precious about their favorite sports.

It is way, way different than a last-second shot in basketball. Which involves a whole lot more made goals. This thing is 1-1 into stoppage time and whaddya know, the better team scores.

I watch soccer once every four years like a good American. It frustrates me how many times the “better team” scores in stoppage time, indicating either that they could have scored earlier but were not redlining, or that lesser opponents tend to fold. Either way I don’t like it.

    tys,sm.

    This was fun. Thank you.

This is what happens when you approach news from an ideological standpoint instead of allowing evidence to lead the way. It was interesting that in this particular case we had a clash between, essentially, believing a woman who felt threatened by a man and everything that means, and believing she made have racist
