Clever and inspired. You are a true comedic gem. I salute your intelligence and wit.

I absolutely agree that one should be critical, thoughtful, and sensitive about these issues, but I refuse to be instructed on the appropriate way to talk about it. And when I say hive mind I mean the tendency of the progressive community to quash dissenting opinion. That's not how you foster honest conversation.

But if what she's doing is bullshit she should not be lauded for it. TeaBaggers find a way to get things done when they decide they want something, that does not make their dedication admirable.

I think it is too reductive to assume that all examples of work ethic and brand management are inherently admiration worthy.

Yeah, I'm with you. To me, a "beta" is not a leader in the sense that s/he does not stand in front of the room and give orders that other people follow. However, s/he generally can get everyone in the room to get along and do what s/he wants; it's just that people won't recognize him/her as the force behind it.

"Imagine managing that all the time."

Lesbianism - give it a try.

No, we should totally feel sorry for HER for having to put up with a less than adequate man, and not him, because after all he is just a a less than adequate man.

"full of guys so upset over the label of "beta" that they actually get angry at the concept.Imagine managing that all the time"

Yes, so strange how being constantly reminded every f.. time you go out/read a book/watch a movie that you are not "a real man" by society's - and yes most women's - standards might make a man insecure.

The whole "alpha/beta" idea is unbelievably stupid. Seems to be primarily used by internet douchebags to insult men who are kind, thoughtful, and egalitarian partners.

Seriously. "Nut cancer" can kill you just as dead as osteosarcoma, and surviving it even without one testicle is still a huge victory.

Yeah, that was kind of towards the part where I stopped reading. It's played about the same way in the book.

I like how the author attacks Lana and implies she's stupid, yet still wonders why the feminism brand is so badly damaged.

Can I recommend your comment infinity times? More people need to read it and think for a second that "Maybe when I think about other people I'm actually thinking that they should be just like me."

Gender equality just isn't everyone's passion, and y'all are gonna have to learn to make your peace with that instead of picking on people for it. It's fine, really! I bet many of you are just bored to tears by environmental activism, or by trying to find a cure for cancer, or economic justice, or whatever other

lol what a piss poor reading of her quote. she has said nothing of the "i'm not a feminist because i love men" drivel that we usually hear, she just said she finds gender politics boring. so what if she does? are we supposed to expect Every Woman Everywhere to be super into feminism at the expense of everything

Nah, Rihanna is a straight-up asshole on Twitter and retweeted a whole bunch of shit that was making fun of this girl (deleted now, of course).

Fuck you,

that's fucked up but she's a kid and ri is a grown woman. she's probably feeling vulnerable and defensive with so much backlash and online abuse targeting her, and then fueled by the idol herself. I might have done something similar at her age had I been provoked in such an extreme way. these things are difficult
