As basic as this sounds, I find my hotel on google maps and then go to street view and “walk around” the neighborhood. I find the nearest grocery, bar, restaurant, landmark. etc. I map “walk” my way to all sites that are accessible by foot from my hotel (I try to avoid public transit if at all possible).
