Stuff-in-a-screen films ultimately feel like a solution in search of a problem. Perhaps people don’t think there would be buy-in if you just dove into the computer for investigations in a more traditionally-formatted film, but the contrivance of “everything is happening in the view of this webcam” never really lands…

I feel like Soderbergh used her best in Haywire, she was still fairly wooden but he leaned into her impressive physicality more than her acting, and let the rest of the cast do the acting. 

I just want to put him in my pocket and carry him around so that he never gets hurt. He is MY number one boy and somehow also my babygirl. I love him so.

Butler is enjoying a fate I had genuinely hoped would befall ‘The Rock’.

This is the right take. 

I have no problem with this.  

A close friend of mine who has since sadly passed away was an assistant director on the show for the entirety of its run. He told me - roughly in the middle of the series - that Imperioli was one of the best actors he’d ever seen, that he could just turn it on in an instant and go. My buddy was also deeply impressed…

Wait, I thought he was YOUR cousin Vinnie.

I love Octavia Butler and I can’t wait for this show. Glad it sounds like they pulled it off.

I love the book, but I’m tired of slave narratives on tv/in film. I think I’ll still give it a shot though because FX rarely misses.
