In all fairness, Fort Worth isn’t exactly known for being woke. He’s treating the people who live there exactly as his masters want him to treat them. He respects the white folks, and disrespects and arrests the black folks.

Grabbing a stranger’s child by the neck isn’t any better than choking. Assault is assault, and being angry about littering doesn’t make it ok.

You don’t know who she is, yet here you are speculating on which person in the video is her and what behavior passes for film consent?

This is an odd choice of hill for you to die on. It sounds like you know nothing about video production yet here you are saying “nuh-UH!” like a whiny baby.

Why would the ranchers have to sell their land? Seems like Trump would be happy to make a deal where the federal government “leases” the land instead, ensuring the continued payoff of the ranchers to support the wall.

Why did the FBI ever have your confidence in the first place? It was literally founded as a secret police to blackmail people and “investigate” “communism”.

I supported Bernie in the primary but I thought it was downright shameful how he continued his primary campaign well past viability just to appease his rabid supporters. All respect I had for Bernie evaporated when he pulled that shit, so yes, people who are still BernieBros deserve a nice big helping of blame.

When did it become either/or?

Makes sense. His brand took a huge hit during the campaign so there are fewer potential customers. But for anyone even considering membership, the difference between $100k and $200k seems pretty neglible.

Can we stop this farce? There are not enough of the right seats even up for grabs in 2018. I am convinced republicans are astroturfing this sentiment all over the internet to keep dems distracted from the CENSUS AND REDISTRICTING IN 2020.

We probably do need a revolution but I am slowly accepting (again) the fact that the old saw about “elections have consequences” applies to my preferred party too. The democrats fucked up by being asleep at the wheel at the state level heading into 2010's census and redistricting. We compounded that with 3 cycles of

It sure as hell won’t be if democrats can’t recover some of the state legislatures. I keep seeing liberals crowing about 2018 but there aren’t enough of the right seats available for dems to win anything of consequence, but there’s another census in 2020 which will be followed by another round of gerrymandering. Fuck

Let’s fix that too.

For some reason I just can’t bring myself to subscribe to that idea. I know it’s supposed to be pretty great with little downside but it seems to make voting easier without actually making it more accessible.

From everything I’ve read on the subject, a straight popular vote would make basically the West Coast and the Northeast the campaign regions. There would be little or no reason for a politician to even court the rancher in Montana’s vote at all.

Proportional apportionment seems to make the most sense if the goal is to repair the system, though I still find persuasive the argument that certain sparsely-populated states would still be given too much power in the electoral college system, even with proportional apportionment.

Strategically, right now nothing matters more than state legislatures that will determine voting districts after the 2020 census. The number and makeup of seats available in 2018 literally gives democrats almost no additional power over what we have now.

They railed against it when it was a minority, because he was a minority. They support it with Trump because he’s a white man who has literally promised to do what he legally can to re-subjegate minorities and women.

If we’re going to go that far we might as well rethink the way senate seats are apportioned too. I’m all for it.
