In that case you’ve made a fantastic point. Religious zealots are never not scary.

I’m not avoiding anything. We may find it distasteful, but is there some law against making a comment that some people find inappropriate? It’s not vulgar or universally offensive, it’s just a phrase (a common one, at that) that rubs some people the wrong way.
We are fucked, at least for a few years. And we will be fucked permanently if the DNC doesn’t turn 100% of its attention to grooming democratic policitians at the local and state level.
In my view some of that is overblown. Other countries don’t have to respect us. That’s not an immutable law of nature. He will not get what he wants via twitter beligerance, he will get what he wants by making deals.
Trump’s craziest ideas and worst policies will be challenged to death in court. Pence’s experience as a politician makes him far more dangerous, because he has a much better understanding of how to effectively advance republican policy by chipping away at progressive issues like LGBT protections and abortion rights.
Pence is unapologetically anti-choice, Trump has at least waffled on the issue. Pence is unapologetically anti-lgbt, again, Trump has at least waffled on the issue.
I’m not sure what point that makes.
The story is actually that the Obama’s had already stayed there, I don’t think it was to contaminate the room for the Obama’s visit so much as to defile the room—to take it down a peg from the recognition of a US President staying there. Apparently past presidents stayed at a different Moscow hotel, so perhaps the…
Right but in fairness, that article was only written a couple years into the Obama administration and details 11 hotels where the president stayed. I don’t think anything is a given, when it comes to this decision, it’s probably a security choice made on the fly with an understanding of relations with the host country…
I could be mistaken but I don’t think there are even enough seats up for grabs for democrats to take one, let alone both houses of congress in 2018. It’s easy to say, but when you look at the actual races that will be decided in 2018, it really doesn’t look good.
You must not be gay or a woman. Pence is far more dangerous than Trump, because Pence believes he has God on his side.
We’re way in the weeds here, apparently only so you can save face. You’re arguing the point as if the police chief said “I’ll fucking kill you” rather than basically “fat chance, nice try, go away”.
JULY 2009 Ritz-Carlton Moscow Moscow, Russia Bucking the tradition of the two presidents before him (who both stayed in the Marriott Grand Hotel), President Obama chose to stay at the then two-year-old Ritz-Carlton, Moscow when he traveled to Russia to meet with President Dimitry Medvedev. According to USA Today’s…
That might be true I have no idea. The point is even if it’s absurd to you, it’s not persecution for others to feel differently and elect leaders who govern in certain ways.
That, and there is always the possibility that they allowed some form of surveillance as a form of counter-intelligence. Let the Russians hear Obama talking in private to Michelle about things that make them go in circles chasing their tails, sort of thing. I know it sounds hollywood but it’s really not inconceivable.
I would also just add briefly that if you’ve been getting screwed over for the last 16 years, as you claim, then I suspect you’re old enough that health insurance is not and SHOULD NOT be optional.
Ugh that literally turned my stomach to read your comment. I might have to go read the leaked intelligence report about Trump’s extensive corruption and cooperation with the Russian government again to cheer myself up.
Several others have already responded here, covering basically all of the ground I would have covered.
You know they don’t just sleep on Air Force One when traveling, right? They have to sleep somewhere, and I’m sure The Obamas were briefed that they were likely being surveilled/bugged.
Honestly that’s the part that makes it so believable. It’s unbelievably petty.
