I have never seen more racism than in latin countries - and this is from someone with a Puerto Rican mom. Most latin societies are racial hierarchies - the lighter the better. It’s really crazy. What’s confusing you? He obviously has to differentiate from other Democrats before he could face Trump, so it’s logical he’d be extra conscious of things that other Democratic candidates have gotten flack for from their own party.
