came here to say the same thing. many athletes in many sports compete with torn ACLs and just a knee brace. pushing the gas pedal (as is the case here given it is a right leg) doesn’t involve a ton of knee movement.

you, sir, are an idiot.
My Brother In Law, Ted Hennessy, was on AA-11. my friend Mike Russo, a newly promoted Lt. in the FDNY Heavy Rescue division was killed running into the North tower just as it came down. 5 kids I grew up with died in the towers.
my other brother in law was in DC attending (ironically?) anti-terrorism training and was…
who never actually bothered to show up to fly, cause he was too busy snorting coke and banging kennebunkport socialites...
you are aware that jet fuel is, basically, diesel (#1) , right?
so, what you are saying is you have no valid argument other than “because I wanna”.
not saying that you are wrong, or even that that is an invalid argument, but when the government inevitably comes to mandate nannyware on all roadgoing vehicles (believe me it is coming) you are gonna need a better argument.
and…
clearly you are not familiar with the concept of devil’s advocate, or reasoned debate.
indeed, why in this one respect are car makers allowed to manufacture a car designed to exceed the speed limit? a pharmaceuticals manufacturer is not allowed to make over the counter drugs that exceed dosage limits. gun manufacturers…
indeed, why should they? the highest speed limit on any (public) road in america is 80MPH (although parts of Montana technically have no speed limit during good weather daylight). Why should Car companies be allowed to sell products designed to break the law? they are not allowed to leave out airbags or seatbelts or…
Thanks for the COTD.
no doubt, if he had hit my car, he would have died for sure, and I _probably_ would have escaped with minor injuries, a totaled car, elevated insurance and guilt for the rest of my life wondering if I could have done something to avoid the accident.
so yeah, no harm no foul.
point is, we shouldn’t sell these to just any…
even worse, I ride a ratty BMW R1100R with 65k miles on it. so I am definitely a no-fun douche, with zero skill and a hatred of all things that bring joy to the world.
that was simply the first picture that came up when I googled “motorcycle through car”. I am sure with just a little bit of effort I could find dozens…
I am concerned about all idiots, not just these particular ones.
Ideally, I would like to see tiered licensing as in Europe (for cars as well as motorcycles), but that will never happen here.
you are right, I have more of a problem with the operators than the bike.
however, just as with guns, a little sensible regulation and mandatory training/testing can go a long way in making sure people with no business on one of these bikes (or a harley for that matter) don’t get on them.
so you are an absolutist, or assume that I am one. a lot of people seem to equate anarchy with freedom, as in “F y’all my right to have fun blowing shit up exceeds your right to live”.
sensible regulation, such as having to take a skills test before buying a donorcycle is a reasonable compromise. In Europe you don’t…
The nice thing about Porsche’s and Cig boats is that they are very expensive leading to them rarely being owned by 18 year olds (who are without exception, morons). this costs less than a honda civic and is operated almost exclusively by 18 year olds.
I get that I am being a no fun pants jerk about this and generally…
Ugh, I hate to be that guy, but what purpose does it serve to put Donorcycles like this on the road? 99.99% of squids who purchase these things are A: unqualified to operate them and 2: will only use them to endanger the lives of those around them.
yes yes freedom blah blah blah. your freedom ends where your actions…
far too many words in this Buyer’s Guide.. Guide can be reduced to one word: Don’t
a bit late to the thread, but...
in F1 and moth other forms of open wheel racing they require tethers on the tires so that when somebody has a suspension crushing wreck the tires don’t go off and kill fans/track workers/pit people/other drivers
it would be simple enough to require similar tethers on any piece of the car…
