This quote from Neil Gaiman about political correctness has stuck with me:
“Maybe you should just try a teeny tiny bit to not express your thoughts in ways that actively hurt other people?”
For the first time in history, white men have to occasionally, just a tiny bit, think before they speak and be questioned about their words and beliefs. This is the “political correctness” everyone is whining about. How dare people that they’ve always been able to oppress, insult, laugh at, or dismiss demand respect…
“Political correctness” has existed as long as humans have. There have always been people you didn’t dare disrespect. The only difference now is, more people are demanding their rightful respect. Boo hoo.
I’m 66 years old. I became a feminist when I was 5, and my older sister was told she could “join” a model airplane club my father belonged to. She could pay dues, but not attend meetings or meet because she was a girl.(My father promptly “unjoined” that club!) I’ve been waiting 61 years for today.
“Mr. Trump, are you playing Pokemon Go?”
Hey, no one can say they did Nazi this coming from her.

I think he’s saying that she looked like a Normal and isn’t it sad she felt pressured to become a Beautiful, but really she was cheating by using a scalpel and got what she deserved. Of course she was not a Normal to begin with, and whatever “revolutionary” fantasies he had about her being attainable for dudes like…

Jesus, please don't do that.

I’m certain the legal process they’re referring to is an attempt to emancipate her.
Thank you. Two things can be true— we can acknowledge that this is more than most rapists get, while maintaining that it is insufficient. Additionally, I would argue that he WAS coddled, and the judge WAS lenient, because he’s a rich white kid, drenched in privilege. Let’s be real, black and brown rapists would never…
The Daily Beast said Persky “coddled” Turner; the petitioners said the sentence was “lenient.” Yet they’re both wrong. The truth is that Brock Turner will spend more time in jail than 97 percent of rapists.
But wasn’t Arya able to peel a jaqen face off Jaqen, then underneath were several other faces, including Arya’s? The mechanics of faceless man cosplaying are confusing.
