“The point is that the police officer started out disrespecting the young man.”

“So, hip to the bullshit the cops were about to pull, he refused to answer any questions and exercised his 5th Amendment right to do so.”

1) We just had a major financial meltdown a decade ago, and we spent years recovering from it. It’s still fresh in people’s minds.

Holy shit! A Michael Harriot piece that doesn’t contain a single objectionable sentence! I never thought I’d live to see the day that I’d agree with every word in one of his articles. Is little Mikey finally growing up? Are the days of insulting white people en masse because of the actions of some white people finally

He said, “You’re a fucking idiot.”

“But the cops are the ones getting mad about it.”

We need to make sure all of us black and brown folk know our rights when confronting police and learn how to maintain composure.”

Et in Arcadia Ego...that’s what I think when I remember what my monthly premium was before the ACA. The middle class got screwed. The ACA helped people who needed help, but it did so at the expense of the wrong people.

The optics of interrupting a black woman are worse than the optics of interrupting any other person only to some black people and fringe leftists. To the rest of us (the ones who are going to win every fight and determine the direction the country takes in the long run) it’s the same. But keep pushing for inequality.

“The most disrespected woman in America, is the black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the black woman. The most neglected person in America is the black woman.”

Exactly. This website is a disservice to black people. It stops us from growing. It’s a place where we come to say whatever we want and expect not to have our ideas challenged. It’s an echo chamber for weak ideas.

Root commenters are so annoying. If they don’t have something to be mad about, they just imagine a hypothetical scenario and get mad about that. It’s always something like “you know if he’d been black he would’ve gotten shot”...even though you can find a million examples of black guys doing that thing and not getting

Shh! Nobody wants to hear that. It provides evidence to the contrary of what Root commenters want to believe. Take your facts and get the fuck out of our bubble!

Sure, you can roll your eyes. You just can’t do it without looking stupid. Gender dynamics, power dynamics, blah blah blah—it still doesn’t justify the double standard that it’s okay to interrupt Bernie but not Kamala, and only the worst of the bubble dwellers would think otherwise. No matter how you try to dress it

I was super bored when I heard this song. And I doubt it’s just me.

Well said, grey.

“Transcripts from a 911 call Zimmerman made the night of the fatal encounter demonstrated that he, too, ignored directives; in this case, to not follow Trayvon.”

Would or wouldn’t? It sounded like you were going to say the former but accidentally typed the latter. Or autocorrect fucked you over, as it often does to me. It’s amazing how often autocorrect, thinking it knows better than me, replaces what I wrote with something that means the exact opposite.

I like some popular things. I just find that most popular things aren’t particularly good. It’s the same shit over and over again.

In case you didn’t see it, someone wrote this response to you:
