However, your first assertion that “the police is essential to any society” is much, much more difficult to prove. If you have some sort of proof that you need an armed, unaccountable, paramilitary force given authority to use deadly force to have a society, I’d be fascinated to hear it.”

Why do you assume unaccountable? Isn’t accountability a BIG thing we are trying to make into universal reality?

Explorers project intimidation?  News to me.

Seattle’s CHAZ experiment should show you that cops are needed. In places where the cops have resorted to slow-downs and sick-outs, like in NYC, Atlanta and earlier in Baltimore- you can see murders go up dramatically.

There is no “conversation”. At this point it feels like a witch hunt.

Is that the question? I see nothing intimidating or occupation-army or attitude about a Ford Explorer. Especially as compared to the police MRAPs and Bearcats you see.

1. I fully support Black Lives Matter. Fully support the prosecution and incarceration of the murderous cops in Minnesota, et al. Fully support removal of Confederate flag and statues. fully support impeachment of Trump. Fully support ongoing protests, etc etc.

I mean the founder of the company had no problem selling vehicles to Nazis

I really want someone to explain to my why a police vehicle should be held responsible for running over someone. They’re not even autonomous.

If the Chinese companies entered the US market at a ~10-20% discount from other Asian automakers, they would have made their own market.

1st Gear: It would take me a long time to try a Chinese car. The issue I have is that I work in the power industry where there have been decades of “don’t even think about buying Chinese pipe for a steam line”. When Kia/Hyundai came to America, I could see they were building crappy cars, but I knew they could make

I’d argue the window for Chinese cars was for EVs in the last few years. That’s their window in a lot of markets. They can design and structure companies and manufacturing ops specifically for an EV lineup. They’d spend too much trying to catch up in the ICE world, but have a unique opportunity to set themselves up

You can already pick up a decent used one for $20-25k

474 out of 1000 black babies are aborted. The vast majority of planned parenthood abortion sites are within walking distance of minority communities. Margaret Sanger was a racist and was pro eugenics. Apparently, cheering on genocide is woke now?

Wait are we really not going to use this opportunity to address that the abortion rate is far greater in the black community. Isn’t that what this movement is all about. Addressing systemic inequalities. Blacks are totally targeted for abortions and the numbers prove it.

Not sure where you are looking, but the cheapest 996 Turbo on Autotrader or CarGurus is $38,000 and it’s got the same mileage as the car above. The rest are in the $40- to $50,000 range.

Still better looking than the brand new Silverado....

Ever look at the Model X door handles, they sag and then don’t line up. Tesla is like Apple making cars, sterile, boring designed interior I would never want to spend time in.

I think you’re on to something about people defending their purchase to the ends of the earth. Nobody likes admitting they made a mistake or were duped. The amount of tribalism baked into some automotive communities is kind of astounding.
