also the approach speed for an F/A 18 is roughly 138 KIA, (knots indicated airspeed) and the Extra cruises at 170 or so.... they were only 30 kts above approach speed when they intercepted him and surely no higher than 18k feet altitude...

As an aviator there is one thing people who are commenting about how anti climactic it was etc. tend to forget.. Yeah there was a lot of sweet shit there this year!!! This 4 Rotor FD RX was pretty sweet

Not the fastest, not the sexiest, not the best handling... but for a 1993 with a V-6 it’s very satisfying to just obliterate 80% of the cars on this list up to 100 MPH and still have it drive reasonably comforable around town.
