Actually you can make these trucks handle decently with little invested. here's a snapshot of mine at a local auto-x. mine has a set of used drop springs, junkyard found dual piston brakes and larger front sway bar off of a blazer, and a few other aftermarket parts.

I like one way to improve the US's popularity with all forms of motorsports is to have drivers in several series like they used to in the 60's. People like Parnelli Jones, Sam Posey, Mario Andretti, etc used to race anything with wheels on it.
