It sounds like Newt is trying to sound “reasonable” to position himself for a possible VP selection by Trump.

At first I was stunned. Then I was impressed. Then I read that Rub1.0 wrote basically the same thing, and realized that this is a Republican press release. They’re attempting to court the black vote, which is one of Hillary’s bigger power bases.

I mean...it’s possible that he’s having a human moment. Or even better that he is telling Trump thanks but no. But more likely he’s strategizing that the Republicans aligning with racists is not going to help in the general election and he’s trying to undercut Hillary’s vast advantage with minorities. Which he hopes…
