I think each series protects against different versions of HPV so ppl don’t have to start them over but can go ahead and get the third vaccine no matter how long it’s been between shot 1 & 2.

They already make them in “rape mode”.

This seems to be the rationale (from the CDC):

You can get the vaccine past age 26, but your insurance won’t cover it because there weren’t any efficacy studies run past that age (due to the fact that by the time you’re past age 26, most people already have been exposed HPV in some shape or form).

I’m 32, and I got the first shot when I was 25. Unfortunately, at the time, it wasn’t covered by insurance (which no one told me) and the doctor’s office charged me the full $2500 for it. I never got the second two, because I couldn’t afford that out of pocket as a student.

I wish they would expand the age recommendations when you can get the vaccine in the US. By the time the vaccine was covered by insurance, I was considered too old. I could probably get a doctor to give me the series but the cost would be insane.

Check with a different OBGYN, because I asked when I was 26 and my doctor told me that cap age is bullshit and even if you already have HPV, you should still get the vaccine to protect from other strains.

What’s the earliest age they suggest getting the shots? My niece is 10 I and I want to start putting pressure on my sis to get her in to get them. She’s very much still a “kid” but I’d rather her get it done asap.
