I believe it has something to do with Scientology. From what I understand, Bibbe Hansen (Beck's mother) was/is an unlicensed midwife. As both Ribisi siblings are Scientologists as well, I assume the family connection between them began with the older generation thanks to the "church" *coughcoughcough.*
