I have picked up, from the trailers, that this is a movie about a woman named Joy who invents something that hits it big on shopping TV. But until now I never got that it was about Joy Mangano. I love her! I own a whole bunch of her hangers and I’m always tempted by her steamer. I will literally just watch her QVC…

She opened her mouth and the illusion was destroyed. They should have gotten an actor. This is just a gimmick and an attempt to play the heartstrings of the audience.

It’s not a good thing either. Most of the human actors cast in the series are cast as humans. Seriously, for an attractive woman like herself, seeing that she is being cast as a an alien is a bit of a surprise and kind of ridiculous.

I mean, she’s a frog by the end of the first act, and stays one for all of the second (typically half the movie on its own) and most of the third.

Eh, part of me has the same level of annoyance that I did back in 2009, when Disney revealed that the first black Disney Princess would be spending half the movie’s runtime as a frog.

Hollywood Rule: If a black woman must appear on screen with two or more lines, she must be Beyonce colored or lighter.

It would be neat if she got to make a big movie where we could see her face at some point. I think the next big thing she’s in after this is the new Jungle Book, as a voice. Has she been in anything as a human being since her Oscar?
